in Search of Our Origins - Palaeontology Weekend in Graaff-Reinet with Prof. Bruce Rubidge of Wits University.

Are you a palaeontology fan? Join Prof. Bruce Rubidge, tour guide Chantelle, and other fellow palaeontology enthusiasts on the weekend of the 30th of July to the 1st of August, for an interesting tour of the Graaff-Reinet area.

Professor Rubidge obtained his BSc, honours, and master's degrees in palaeontology and geology at the University of Stellenbosch, and his PhD from the then University of Port Elizabeth, now Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU). He was a palaeontologist at the National Museum in Bloemfontein, then became the director at the Bernard Price Institute for Palaeontology at Wits University.

The Kitching Fossil Exploration Centre in Nieu-Bethesda, and the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site both benefitted from Prof. Rubidge's involvement, he being involved with the development of both facilities.

Participate in in-depth palaeontology discussions, see out of the way scenery, enjoy exceptional food and wine, meet locals from the Karoo and like-minded people, and explore our corner of the world.

You will visit the Valley of Desolation, see historical buildings, explore the village of Nieu-Bethesda, marvel at fossils in the Kitching Fossil Exploration Centre, and go birding in the Camdeboo National Park, followed by a game drive to finish off the experience.
