Spandau Mountain or Spandaukop as it is known locally, is a distinct Graaff-Reinet Landmark, reputed to have been named in 1801 by a retired Prussian soldier by the name of Werner, after the Spandau Citadel near Berlin, Germany. This was because the mountain appears to stand guard over the town. Pictured here is Spandaukop alongside Spandau Citadel in Germany.
